The Shuswap Lake water system in British Columbia is a series of vast freshwater arms of the lake and rivers that feed and drain it. Shuswap lake is fed by the Adams River and also the Eagle River which enters the lake at Sicamous. Seymour River feeds into the Seymour Arm, and the Shuswap River coming from Lumby and the Monashees connects to Shuswap Lake through popular Mara Lake. In south-central British Columbia the Shuswap Region has been home to the Shuswap native people called 'Sepwepemc'.   Houseboating on the lake each year brings vacationers who want to be away from cities, and recreate in a peaceful water environment. Houseboats can sleep up to a dozen people, and are often shared among several families. Anchoring in the shallows or right up on a Shuswap Lake beach gives boaters opportunity for a campfire and tenting on the beach if desired.
